I’m a Momma to 6 kiddos that I had back to back to back to back! FIVE girls and ONE boy!! Ava-Kate, Addie, Lily (my sweet girl in heaven), Evie, Josiah, and Isabella. 6 kids in 7 years. Phew. I got tired just typing that. Being a momma is seriously the greatest joy of my life. Don’t get me wrong, I mean sometimes I question my sanity… But really, I still can’t believe that I’ve birthed 6 humans! My husband Jake and I are beyond blessed and I am forever thankful that God saw fit to bless us with all these kiddos that call me Mom (aka Mooommmmm, mommy, mom-mom-mom-mom, maaaaaa)!
Jake and I got married almost 9 years ago. It was quite the love story. I first saw him opening for Michael W. Smith and I swear I knew that night he was going to be my husband (although, I'm sure 100's of girls thought the same after seeing a witty, cute guy on stage playing guitar and singing like an angel). This was more than a crush my friends! I felt it in my soul and I knew he was the one. I'll tell the full story one day, but fast forward a year or so and he was proposing to me on the Brooklyn Bridge and 3 months after that we were turning a wedding shower into an intimate backyard wedding and then 3 months after that is when the "Smith Baby Boom" began with a surprise positive on that infamous stick. We've moved 6 times, lived in 3 cities, lost a child and truly learned the definition of grieving, transitioned in and out of jobs, waited on God for our next move... and throughout it all, we've fallen more in love with each other and clung to Jesus with every high and every low...all by the grace. of. God.
I’m definitely a creative. I love making something from nothing, or bringing life back to something that was in need of a little love. But I’ve also got a little OCD in me too, everything needs a place and a purpose, and you can imagine my struggle with the above-mentioned kids! I live for a good tan. I don't care what people say, I could 100% live on the beach. I drink coffee to survive (again, above-mentioned kids). I’ve become a bit of cheese fry connoisseur (and no, not the ball park nacho cheese kind), the fancy cheese + fancy topping kind + sauce. I mean I’m not picky, I’m really a lover of all food. And my favorite way to end the day is curling up on the couch with Jake (my bestie for life) and binge watching Friends from start to finish for the 2345th time with a bowl of chips and salsa (and preferably a margarita in hand).
I run two businesses (well three if you count my kids, keeping 5 kids alive is totally a business right? All the mommas said…AMEN). A hand lettering business, and a make-up + skincare business with Limelife by Alcone. Both of these businesses just happened. The hand lettering was birthed out of my love for journaling and it just evolved into something more. I love that my pieces can bring a bit of joy into someone’s home. And with Limelife, I fell in love with the products and knew that I had to share it! I never thought it would be something I would do, but when you can help women feel more confident in their skin you go ALL IN and you say YES!
I’m a firm believer that as women we should support each other and not tear each other down. This blog is a place to support each other. I’ve learned some things over the years as a wife and a mom and I find myself sharing these things over and over. I wanted to create a space for that here, not as an expert by any means, just a place where things can be shared. A place where questions can be asked and possibly even answered, feelings can be validated, ideas can be created, and we can just unashamedly be who God created us to be. As I continue this crazy journey, I'd love for you to come along for the ride. We always feel a bit more sane when we are all in it together. And I can promise you, if you look hard enough, you can find the beauty in it all.
